Karnataka State Budget 2018-2019 Highlights
The Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has a smart and well-infrastructured view of the Karnataka State with the new state budget.
And, this will be the 13th state budget of Siddaramaiah’s political career spanning more than three decades.
The Karnataka state government is now prompting up with the all-new developmental plans and schemes for the state.
This state budget for the year 2018-2019 is sophisticated and is substantially expected to have a broader budget theme with an outlay of Rs. 2.1 Lakh crore focusing on enhancing the urban infrastructure, agriculture, education, social sector schemes like pensions, insurances and more.
Here is a complete layout of the budget plan for the progress in different sectors of the state.
Welfare sector: Karnataka State Budget 2018
In this Sector, the Chief Minister is emphasizing on the domestic welfare as well as the backward community welfare.
The Government has launched a scheme called “Mukhyamantri Anila Bhagya Yojane” where a free gas connection is provided to see the twin burner stove and two refills for 30 lakh beneficiaries.
An incentive of Rs. 3 Lakh and Rs.5 Lakh will be provided for the SC boys and girls respectively for marrying someone from another caste.
And, an Incentives of Rs. 3 Lakh and Rs. 5 Lakh each for the male child and girl child respectively of a devadasi.
Also, a Loan of Rs. 50000 at 0% interest is provided to the fisherwomen.
Rs. 7.5 crores from the budget will be spent on the modernization of cattle markets in the state and on providing them with weighing equipment, water facilities, and fenced yards.
A total amount of Rs. 2377 crores are earmarked for the development of animal husbandry.
Additionally, a “Kshema Nidhi scheme” will be established for the welfare of newspaper distributors at a cost of Rs. 2 crores.
Education Sector: Karnataka State Budget 2018
This 13th state budget is also keenly targeting on achieving the highest girl child literacy rate in the State by providing free education for the Karnataka girls from primary school to post-graduation.
A budget of around Rs. 4133 crores is earmarked for this purpose.
Upon that, the Chief Minister also stated that surveillance cameras will be installed at all government institutions to ensure the safety of the girl students.
And, a 25% of reservation is allocated for the backward class and minority students in post-matric hostels.
Agriculture Sector: Karnataka State Budget 2018
The Chief Minister has planned the budget keeping in mind the mourning deaths of farmers and the effect caused to their families due to this.
The CM Siddaramaiah announced to provide a pension of Rs. 2000 to the wives of those farmers who committed suicides and a relief of Rs. 1 Lakh will be additionally provided to the family.
A Scheme called “Raita Belaku”, is also introduced, under which the farmers possessing drylands will be provided an amount of Rs. 10000 each.
Employment sector: Karnataka State Budget 2018
This state budget will also cause a hike in all the state government employee’s pay up to 30%, with a budget of Rs. 10,508 lakhs being allocated.
Around 5.9 lakh government employees and approximately the same number of pensioners will be benefitted by the wage revision.
Also, an outlay of Rs. 247 crores are provided to the private sectors like IT, BT, Science and Technology departments.
Health sector: Karnataka State Budget 2018
For the welfare of people, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, under the health sector will be launching an “Arogya Karnataka scheme” or “Universal health Scheme” in February 2018.
A 1000 bed ward is also announced for the Bangalore Medical College under the health sector budget.
Other sectors: Karnataka State Budget 2018
The government has increased liquor excise duty by 8%.
It is also planning to establish a 3D planetarium in Belagavi at an expense of Rs. 3 crores.
This budget has also got some beneficiaries to the sports relevancies. The Karnataka Sports University is now modified and is coming up with PPP model.
The former state, national and International Level Sportspersons are provided with a hike of Rs. 500 in their pensions.
And, the wrestlers of all Levels have their pensions increased up to Rs. 2000.
The Chief Minister is also planning to set up a group insurance facility called “Madhyama Sanjeevini”, which will provide an insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 Lakhs to the families of the untimely deceased.
A budget of Rs. 2500 crores will be spent on the development of lakes by the development authority, and a massive afforestation program is also being taken up along the banks of rivers.
The state is also set to launch a number of air monitoring stations to combat pollution.
In Dakshina Kannada District, a vented dam is to be built under the “Paschimavahini” scheme.
A Mysuru Haat will be developed on the lines of Delhi Haat, at Karnataka Exhibition Authority in Mysore.
Additionally, to encourage the innovations in different areas, a “Karnataka Innovation Authority” will be set up under the Chief Minister’s Chairmanship.
Also, for the Social Welfare Department, a “Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Spoothi Bhavana” will be set up next to the Vikasa Soudha at an expense of Rs. 25 crores.
